WHEREAS, after giving over 35 years to the City of Pittsburgh, Beverly Ochs-Pobicki retired on February 4, 2022; and,

WHEREAS, Beverly began in the Public Safety Department's Training Academy on March 26, 1986. She worked with instructors and recruits and assisted with testing results for the police, fire and EMS recruits. Beverly appeared in two videos for the Department: one for pedestrian safety and one concerning the newly created First Responders program with the Bureau of Fire and helped create training manuals for the department's pumper trucks; and,
WHEREAS, she then worked in the former Engineering and Construction Department responsible for its daily operations, and assisted with the merger with the Department of Public Works (DPW). In 2005, Beverly became the Assistant to the Director of DPW; and,
WHEREAS, according to former Director Guy Costa, Beverly was a "wonderful person and a great assistant." "She was always professional when dealing with staff, other City workers, contractors and the public"; and,
WHEREAS, when the new Director, Rob Kaczorowski, took over, Mrs. Ochs-Pobicky became the assistant to Mr. Patrick Hassett, the Assistant Director of the Bureau of Transportation and Engineering. According to Mr. Hassett, Beverly was "like a school mom to her staff". Using her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Point Park College, she was the "dreaded English teacher" using a red pen correcting his mistakes; and,
WHEREAS, in 2017, Beverly assisted with the newly created Department of Mobility and Infrastructure. She was responsible for the daily operations of DPW and DOMI and became highly knowledgeable about preparing agreements with consultants, Allegheny County, PennDOT, and the Authorities. In addition, she trained new employees and provided support to staff members, and developed strong working relationships with all City employees to whom she came in contact; and,
