WHEREAS, Decker Service Station is the oldest active business in the Allentown neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh; and, 

 

Body

WHEREAS, Herman Decker purchased the service station in 1952, on the site of Albert Schuetz, a local black smith; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Decker became the owner of this family business in 1990; and,

 

WHEREAS, A family business, Decker’s Service and Auto is run by Jeffrey and Mary Anne, his wife of 48 years, as well as his grandson; and

 

WHEREAS, Decker’s Service and Auto has been a community partner, and leader in the business district of Allentown; and,

 

WHEREAS, A local neighborhood partner, Decker’s has been employment for many residents from the neighborhood and is always the first to donate to any Allentown event; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jeffrey, an unwavering community leader, has served as the President of the Petroleum Retailers and Auto Repair Organization and is a member of the Allegheny County Sheriff's General Reserve.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does recognize, celebrate and thank Decker’s Service and Auto Sales for their longevity and their generosity to all of the neighbors of Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, November 8th, 2021 to be “Jeff Decker Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
