WHEREAS, MFG Day, organized by The Manufacturing Institute, the workforce development and education partner of the National Association of Manufacturers, and continuing throughout the month of October, inspires the next generation about the industry and careers in modern manufacturing by encouraging companies and educational institutions to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders; and,

WHEREAS, MFG Day empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges and help their communities and future generations thrive; and,

WHEREAS, diverse initiatives support women, veterans, students and workers through skills training programs, community building and supporting the advancement of their careers; and,

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania manufacturers employ more than 9% of the workforce, accounting for nearly $94 billion in output in 2018, with an average annual compensation of $74,000 in 2017; and,

WHEREAS, over the next decade, 4 million manufacturing jobs will need to be filled nationwide, New Century Careers joins strong regional coalitions, universities, workforce investment boards, partner companies, industry and government to fill these positions; and,

WHEREAS, New Century Careers Manufacturing 2000 (M2K) program provides tuition-free training and placement assistance for candidates to enter this workforce in months not years and offers incumbent training for career advancement in the industry; and,

WHEREAS, New Century Careers recognizes the need for employment among workers displaced by the COVID pandemic shutdown and encourages them to consider these promising, family-wage careers in fast-growing advanced manufacturing, robotics and government contracting work fueling the local economy;
