Title: WHEREAS, the aim of Children's Environmental Health (CEH) Day is to raise awareness about the importance of clean air and water, safe food and consumer products, healthy environments, and stable climates to children's health and development; and,

WHEREAS, the aim of Children's Environmental Health (CEH) Day is to raise awareness about the importance of clean air and water, safe food and consumer products, healthy environments, and stable climates to children's health and development; and,

WHEREAS, CEH Day was created by the Children's Environmental Health Network and celebrated for the first time on October 13, 2016; and,

WHEREAS, CEH Day is observed on the second Thursday in October as a means to celebrate progress of the children's environmental health movement and create a strong network of child health advocates; and,

WHEREAS, CEH Day is a national effort supported by individuals, non-profit organizations, and government agencies; and,

WHEREAS, CEH Day encourages individuals and organizations to raise awareness and understanding of children's environmental health issues, seek improved protections for all children, and to perform acts of sustainability or environmental health and wellness; and,

WHEREAS, together, we can safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of our most precious resource: our children; and,

WHEREAS, the Lead Safe Allegheny Coalition envisions Allegheny County as a place where children and their families can live, learn, and grow in a lead-safe environment; and,

WHEREAS, the last week of the month is also Lead Poisoning Prevention week, as an opportunity to raise awareness and take action on this specific children's environmental health hazard; and,

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh City Council recognizes the need to invest in primary prevention strategies that reduce lead exposure across the City and, as such, has dedicated funding via the American Rescue Plan Act to address this critical health concern; and,

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh City Council encourages its colleagues at the County level of government to also invest in funding and primary prevention strategies to reduce lead exposure and lead poisoning in children across the County.
