Title: WHEREAS, Volunteers who have stepped out of their familiar environments to meet needs not otherwise met through their service are a fundamental part of the community. Nabhi Christian Ministries, whose mission is to enhance impoverished communities by creating healthy environments that mentor, train and develop citizens of all ages recognizes the work and sacrifices of ALICE RICHARDSON with their Transformational Leadership Award; and,

WHEREAS, Volunteers who have stepped out of their familiar environments to meet needs not otherwise met through their service are a fundamental part of the community. Nabhi Christian Ministries, whose mission is to enhance impoverished communities by creating healthy environments that mentor, train and develop citizens of all ages recognizes the work and sacrifices of ALICE RICHARDSON  with their Transformational Leadership Award; and,

WHEREAS, Alice Richardson is a Certified Nursing Assistant with years of experience working in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and currently works with the homeless; and,   

 

WHEREAS, Alice Richardson is tireless and dedicated in her work with the Hands for Hope Emergency Energy Relief Program which is a hardship application processing service by Nabhi Christian Ministries to help strengthen households of color who were disproportionately affected by disconnected utilities, evictions and debt during Covid. Alice screened over 300 utility grant applicants in order to provide utility assistance and tangible aid to the elderly, single moms and families and individuals experiencing difficulty affording adequate and safe utility supplies to maintain basic living standards; and,

 

WHEREAS, Alice worked for the Educational Mentoring Program to help transform lives by addressing root causes of violence in at risk, adjudicated youth. She was part of an effort that significantly reduced truancy by 97% in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. In 2015, Alice teamed with 4H Pittsburgh and the Kingsley Association to help deliver an innovative

assets based youth development program which gave African American males leadership roles in their neighborhoods. Alice continues to advocate safe pathways for the healthy development of children victimized by or exposed to drugs, violence and harsh environments in Allegheny County. She helps distribute toys, schools supplies and winter coats, and during Covid, distributed over 1200 healthy food boxes and hosted safe family activities to help reduce impacts of social isolation.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize, commend and congratulate Alice Richardson for receiving the Transformational Leadershp Award  from Nabhi Christian Ministries for her extraordinary body of work as an exemplary professional and a dedicated role model in the service of her community.
