Title: WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth W. "Kenny" Minton, Sr. was a dedicated softball and baseball coach on the Northside from 1978 through 2014; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth W. “Kenny” Minton, Sr. was a dedicated softball and baseball coach on the Northside from 1978 through 2014; and

WHEREAS, the ballpark at Fineview Park, known as Fineview Field, was Coach Kenny Minton’s home field on Pittsburgh’s Northside from 1978 through 2014; and

 

WHEREAS, Coach Minton was deeply involved and a pillar of strength and friendship to the communities throughout the Northside across his thirty-four years of coaching; and

 

WHEREAS, the late Coach Minton had seven sons -- Ken Jr., Jimmy, Chad, Billy, Jake, RJ, and Kevin -- with his wife, Mrs. Pamela Minton, all of whom keep his extraordinary legacy alive by coaching and assisting in youth sports today; and

 

WHEREAS, Coach Minton made an enduring and extraordinary impact on the youth of Northside, and shall be fondly remembered for his love of coaching and his emphasis on involving youth in sports and their communities; and

 

WHEREAS, in celebration of Coach Minton’s tremendous legacy, the City of Pittsburgh renamed Fineview Field the Kenneth W. “Kenny” Minton Sr. Memorial Ballfield;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares Sunday, August 22, 2021 “Kenneth W. ‘Kenny’ Minton, Sr. Day” in our City of Pittsburgh.
