Title: WHEREAS, on March 25, 2021, in partnership with Pyramid Pittsburgh, the Allegheny County Democratic Black Caucus (ACDBC) held the first Evelyn D. Richardson Women's History Month Celebration where they presented the Hon. Evelyn D. Richardson awards for Women trailblazers; and,

WHEREAS, on March 25, 2021, in partnership with Pyramid Pittsburgh, the Allegheny County Democratic Black Caucus (ACDBC) held the first Evelyn D. Richardson Women’s History Month Celebration where they presented the Hon. Evelyn D. Richardson awards for Women trailblazers; and,

WHEREAS, at the event, they honored the achievements of Attorney Martha Conley, Retired PA Supreme Court Justice Hon. Cynthia Baldwin, Chief Judge of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Hon. Kimberly Clark, and Retired Pittsburgh Police Detective Yolanda Roberts; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Martha Conley was the first African American woman to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and employed by the U.S. Steel Corporation for 27 years retiring from there as senior general attorney; and,

 

WHEREAS, Supreme Court Justice Cynthia Baldwin became the first African American woman to sit on the State of Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court and is the recipient of several awards, including the 2003 Espirit Children’s Service Award from the Mental Health Association of Allegheny County; and,

 

WHEREAS, Judge Kimberly Clark was the first African-American to serve as President Judge in Allegheny County and was the first African-American to be appointed as an Administrative Judge in Allegheny County; and,

 

WHEREAS, Yolanda Elizabeth Roberts was a 30-year veteran of the, City of Pittsburgh Police Force. Serving as the City's only African American Female fingerprinting specialist before transition to the Mobile Crime Unit of Pittsburgh. She retired in January of 2021; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby thank the Allegheny County Democratic Black Caucus for honoring the achievements of local trailblazers and recognize all women and men who have made contributions to the Allegheny County region and the nation; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 25, 2021 to be “Hon. Evelyn D. Richardson Women’s History Month Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
