Title: WHEREAS, Following in his father's footsteps and joining the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police in 1993, Chief Scott Schubert has dedicated the entirety of his professional career to the City and to its residents; and,

WHEREAS, Following in his father’s footsteps and joining the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police in 1993, Chief Scott Schubert has dedicated the entirety of his professional career to the City and to its residents; and,

WHEREAS, A member of the Bureau for nearly three decades, Chief Schubert has risen through the ranks to serve residents through the multitude of different roles he has held over his years of service - as Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Commander, Assistant Chief, Active Chief, and as now Chief of Police; and, 

 

WHEREAS, As a lifelong resident of this City, always devoted and willing to serve every individual who calls this City home, Chief Schubert committed to connecting and reconnecting with all of Pittsburgh’s ninety neighborhoods; and

 

WHEREAS, The decision to walk, while on and off the clock, provided the Chief with not only the ability to reconnect with the day-to-day experiences of Bureau members, but to establish and grow relationships with community members who depend on his leadership; and,

 

WHEREAS, The Bureau’s continued effort to be more visible and more open to the community is essential in demonstrating that this City has committed itself to serving through the community and leading based upon approaches grounded in community experiences; and,

 

WHEREAS, By being engaged, vocal, and purposeful about investing his time in the community, the Chief has led by example, and advocated for his officers and all Bureau members to do the same; and, 

 

WHEREAS, While the Chief has accomplished his goal of spending time in each and every City neighborhood, he has decided to continue the practice of walking the beat and spending time with his neighbors; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Pittsburgh and the Council hereby recognizes Chief Schubert’s commitment to the City of Pittsburgh through his actions on and off duty; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council hereby declares April 27th, 2021 to be “Chief Scott E. Schubert” in the City of Pittsburgh.
