WHEREAS, Tau Beta Eta Fraternity Inc. was founded by Keinesha Brown and established on April 1, 2020; and,

WHEREAS, the co-ed fraternal order is comprised of individuals who have a passion to serve and love others within their community and surrounding areas, and inspire others to do the same; and,

 

WHEREAS, only a year old, Tau Beta Eta Fraternity has impacted many individuals and families during the COVID Pandemic by partnering with The Moxie Organization and Leos2Heroes to distribute food boxes and Christmas toys to those in need, and have partnered with National Church Residences to provide Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas trees to the residents of Elliott, in District 2, and Wilkinsburg. They have also provided Care Packages for the homeless and participated in the United Way’s Week of Caring; and,

 

WHEREAS, the fraternity currently has several new projects underway to help others, such as a “New Mother’s Initiative, which will supply needed items for mothers and their newborn, Giving of Thanks project, collecting grocery store gift cards for those in need, Packages of Love Initiative, which includes a supply of winter gear such as hats, gloves, scarves, and a Bookbag Drive underway for the new school year; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tau Beta Eta Fraternity Inc will be celebrating their first year of service to others on Saturday, April 17 at Shawnee Shelter in Settlers Cabin Park with members who, because of their philanthropy and social activities, have found lifetime friendships and valuable connections; and,  

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Tau Beta Eta Fraternity on their first anniversary and thank them for their selfless work in the City of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Thursday, April 1 to be “Tau Beta Eta Fraternity Inc Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
