Title: WHEREAS, after a prominent 30-year career with WPXI, Peggy Finnegan will be retiring from anchoring the Channel 11 news, on December 18, 2020; and,

WHEREAS, after a prominent 30-year career with WPXI, Peggy Finnegan will be retiring from anchoring the Channel 11 news, on December 18, 2020; and,

WHEREAS, Peggy joined WPXI in 1990, and helped to transform Channel 11 News into an award-winning newscast. She has helped Pittsburghers navigate through the darkest days, such as Flight 427, September 11th, and the Tree of Life shooting, to happier days, such as Stanley Cups, Lombardi Trophies, and holiday parades with her sincerity, compassion and professionalism; and,

WHEREAS, during her career, she has received numerous awards and recognition including, but not limited to, the prestigious Carlow College Women of Spirit Award, the Courageous Woman Award from Mom's House and the Source of Life Award from Magee Women's Hospital as well being nominated for an Emmy for her inspirational Proud to be From Pittsburgh series; and,

WHEREAS, together, with co-anchor David Johnson, Peggy has received the President's Award from the Western Pennsylvania Press Club and was honored by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters as the 2016 Broadcasters of the Year, and even won $100,000 for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"; and,

WHEREAS, as a breast cancer survivor, Peggy shares the importance of early detection to many organizations and informally counsels women about the disease. She is also involved with several charities, including Mother's Hope Foundation, Angel's Place, Family Resources, and Presents for Patients; and,

WHEREAS, her love for family, husband Michael Donnelly, her four children Michael, Maura, Ryan and Shannon, and the importance to stay connected with friends is the essence of her decision to retire from anchoring, however she will continue to help WPXI as part of special report coverage and community events throughout the year; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Peggy Finn...
