WHEREAS, Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU’s) annual Alumni Awards will be held during a special virtual event this year on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 5:00 PM and is open to all who would like to engage; and,

WHEREAS, the CMU Alumni Association will proudly honor 11 members of the CMU community, who have made an impact on their profession, their communities, and their alma mater; and,

 

WHEREAS, since 1950, the Alumni Awards pay tribute to individuals distinguished by their service to the university and exemplary accomplishments in their field. To date, nearly 900 alumni, faculty and students have been honored with these accolades; and, 

 

WHEREAS, members will be presented with awards in several categories including The Founders Medal for Outstanding Service and Exceptional Achievement, Alumni Achievement Awards, Alumni Service Awards, Outstanding Recent Alumni Award, and the Student Engagement Award, all of which recognize those alumni who have given generously of their time, talent, leadership and who show pride in their alma mater; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Carnegie Mellon University for recognizing the alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends who have become their greatest assets; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, December 16, 2020 to be “Carnegie Mellon University’s Alumni Awards Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
