Title: WHEREAS, Dr. Angela Reynolds became the new CEO of the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh February 24, 2020 amid the COVID 19 Pandemic and quickly transitioned programs to a virtual setting to ensure access to critical services for women and families. In addition, she orchestrated an emergency food distribution program, and expanded their housing programs to help families avoid an eviction and secure safe, stable housing, and basic needs; and,

Title
WHEREAS, Dr. Angela Reynolds became the new CEO of the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh February 24, 2020 amid the COVID 19 Pandemic and quickly transitioned programs to a virtual setting to ensure access to critical services for women and families. In addition, she orchestrated an emergency food distribution program, and expanded their housing programs to help families avoid an eviction and secure safe, stable housing, and basic needs; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Reynolds began her career at the Fair Housing Partnership, which enabled her to edit a Housing Discrimination study for the National Science Foundation. As the senior director for United Way of Southwestern PA's 2-1-1 helpline, she expanded 2-1-1 services to support 25 additional counties, 12 of which were in the Northwest, after-hours or disaster coverage for other 2-1-1's in the network, and added coverage to 5 counties in the Southeast region; and,

WHEREAS, she has served as an instructor for over 20 years, 12 of those as a full-time professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, issues of racial justice and equity are very important to Ms. Reynolds and in June of 2020, she launched monthly Action Conversations on Race at the YWCA's Center for Race and Gender Equity. In September, she received the Greater Pittsburgh ATHENA award, recognizing her excellence in her profession, community work and mentorship of women and girls; and,

WHEREAS, she serves as an Associate Pastor at her church, director of their Praise and Worship ministry, and director of their Board of Christian Education; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to being a wife and mother of four, she is also the sole caregiver for her 80-year old mother; having lost her sister, her only sibling and best friend, to a heart attack in July of 2019; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Dr. Angela Reynolds for her accomplishm...
