Title
WHEREAS, Alfred DiRosa began working at the Hazelwood Initiative (HI), a community-based organization focused on social and economic development within Greater Hazelwood, as an intern for then-Executive Director Jim Richter in 2014 while pursuing his Master of Social Work degree at the University of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, even after his internship ended and HI's team only consisted of him and an interim Executive Director, Alfred had already fallen in love with the neighborhood, its residents, and the impactful work that he had been - and would continue to be - involved with, choosing then to continuing working at HI; and

WHEREAS, throughout the course of his six-year tenure at HI and his time managing operations and outreach for HI, Alfred was a neighborhood staple who was just as likely to be spotted volunteer event helping out the residents of Greater Hazelwood as he was facilitating meaningful neighborhood deliberations on critical matters; and

WHEREAS, working closely with Sonya Tilghman, HI's Executive Director, and the organization's Board of Directors, Alfred was integral in the efforts to steadfastly advance the mission of project- and outcome-oriented work that connects residents, develops and maintains affordable housing, and balances the factors of commercial development with the needs and desires of the neighborhood, during which time he was committed to centering the lives, experiences, and hopes of the residents of Greater Hazelwood; and

WHEREAS, in early October, Alfred began a new role at Prevention Point Pittsburgh as its Naloxone Distribution Coordinator, where he will build on his prior experience in and passion for harm reduction and working to fight against the calamitous effects of the War on Drugs.
