Title: WHEREAS, Dr. Rahmon Hart is the current Director of Community Relations at Rivers Casino where one of his many roles is to implement and oversee diversity and community engagement initiatives; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Rahmon Hart is the current Director of Community Relations at Rivers Casino where one of his many roles is to implement and oversee diversity and community engagement initiatives; and,

WHEREAS, in his role with the casino, Dr. Hart works on multiple programs that directly support local charity and community-focused organizations such as the Rivers Casino Community Champions program, and the "Rivers Gives" program, enabling casino patrons to support different charities each month; and,

WHEREAS, over the years he has coordinated numerous community service initiatives including youth mentoring programs, Christmas toy drives, Thanksgiving food drives, and college scholarship fundraisers. He is proudest of the Omega Dr. Carter G. Woodson Academy, which is a 12-Week Saturday program empowering and educating approximately 50 children; and,

WHEREAS, in 2017, Dr. Hart, was named to the Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, where he was recognized for his exceptional professional achievements and outstanding engagement with the Pittsburgh community. In that same year, he was presented with a Men of Excellence award by the New Pittsburgh Courier; and,

WHEREAS, most recently, amid the COVID-19 Pandemic, Dr. Hart, in partnership with Rivers Casino and the Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., where he has served three consecutive terms as president, led a community collaborative that delivered 18,000 cooked meals to senior citizens throughout the City of Pittsburgh and led a collaborative that provided healthy snacks to 5,000 youth in the City of Pittsburgh; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby thank Dr. Rahmon Hart for his unselfish efforts benefiting the City of Pittsburgh and nearby regions; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Friday, October 16, 2020 to be "Dr. Rahmon Hart Day" in the Cit...
