Resolution authorizing the Mayor, the Director of the Department of Public Works, and the Department of City Planning, to enter into an Agreement or Agreements, or the use of existing Agreements between the City of Pittsburgh and James Simon, for the creation and installation of public art at Townsend Park located at 803 Ernie Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, at a cost not to exceed Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000.00).

WHEREAS, Townsend Park is currently undergoing renovations as a project of the Department of Public Works; and
WHEREAS, the Townsend Park renovation budget included funds for the inclusion of a new piece of public art to be made onsite; and
WHEREAS, the Department of City Planning includes a Public Art & Civic Design division, that administers the implementation of City of Pittsburgh public art projects; and
WHEREAS, on February 13, 2020, the Office of Management and Budget released a Request for Proposals to solicit artists to create public art for Townsend Park; and
WHEREAS, a selection committee chose a proposal by James Simon for the public art installation; and.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor, the Director of Public Works, and the Department of City Planning, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized enter into an Agreement or Agreements, or the use of existing Agreements, between the City of Pittsburgh and James Simon, for the creation and installation of public art at Townsend Park located at 803 Ernie Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, at a cost not to exceed Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000.00), for artist's fees, materials, and installation payable from the following account:
Funds are available in the Park Reconstruction (BOND), line item, 2017 DELIVERABLE:
