Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Michael Quinn upon his retirement and commend him for his courage, bravery, loyalty and sense of community during his service with the City of Pittsburgh Fire Bureau; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, April 1, 2020 to be "Mr. Michael Quinn Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Michael Quinn, son of Thomas and Dolores Quinn, was appointed to the Pittsburgh Bureau of fire on July 18, 1994 and assigned to Engine 31 in Sheraden on November 15. Mr. Quinn will be retiring as Master Firefighter on April 1, 2020; and,

WHEREAS, Mike applied his diligent work ethic as a Driver and Pump Operator who has safely driven firefighters to thousands of calls for 26 years. He was always willing to take the time to pass his experience and knowledge of the streets of Sheraden onto new firefighter recruits learning the job, and he was always available to help the residents of Sheraden- whether it may be rescuing a trapped kitten from a window well, or getting a cat out of a tree; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Quinn takes much pride in the community in which he works which is evident as he is often seen picking up trash and cans on the streets around Engine 31 or cutting the grass around the outside of the firehouse and at the Sheraden Community Garden; and,

WHEREAS, During winter months, he is the first one to begin shoveling the snow off the sidewalks at the firehouse, and Mike brought a shovel and salt along on medical calls in the winter so that he can clear the steps and sidewalks at the resident's house so that the firefighters, medics and residents don't slip and fall. Mike takes the time every holiday season to bring cheer by hanging lights outside of the firehouse to be enjoyed by all who walk or drive by; and,

WHEREAS, Mike resides in Sheraden and is a loyal son, brother and an avid "car guy" and devoted Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He has always been willing to help his churches - Holy Innocents, until its closing in 2016, and Ascension Roman Catholic Church; and,
