Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Cribs for Kids for their success in reducing the incidence of SIDS and for hosting the Celebrate and Share Women of Achievement Awards Dinner NOW BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, March 12, 2020, to be "THE WOMEN OF ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Cribs for Kids, the National Infant Sleep Initiative that aims to eliminate sudden infant death syndrome and decrease infant mortality rates through Pennsylvania, was founded in 1998 by District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala ,Jr.,  Judith Bannon, the late Mayor Bob O’Connor and the late Police Commander Gwen Elliot ; and,

 

WHEREAS, for over a decade, Cribs for Kids has celebrated Western Pennsylvania’s  women who have demonstrated a commitment to the betterment of their communities,  in their professional field, or outstanding accomplishment for the advancement of women through The Women of Achievement Awards, founded in 2002 by Bonnie Di Carlo and JoAnn R. Forrester and known as Celebrate and Share ;and,   

 

WHEREAS, this year’s awards will be presented to prominent women representing diverse cultures, roles and accomplishments The honorees include Rachel, Berger, MD, MPH, Jan Brimmeier, AIA,NCARB,  Belinda Callaghan, MSN, RN, NE-BC, Patrizia Costa, PhD, Rosamaria Cristello, Sloane Davidson, Fafa Dedji, Christine S. Ferguson, BSE, MBA, Angela Garcia, Amera Gilchrist, Alicia B. Harvey-Smith, PhD, MariAnn Hathaway,Esq., Jennifer M. Joseph, Leilani Mears, PMP, Rosemary Mendel, Michelle Muccio, Emily Nugent, Lisa J. Perry, MPM, Mary Ellen Ramage, Lisa Kay Schweyer, MPM, Jada Shirriel, MS, CLC, Rebecca J. Watters, PhD, Senator Lindsey Williams and  Sister Linda Yankoski, CSFN, EdD.

 

WHEREAS, Cribs for Kids will also present the 2020 Laura Ditka Award for Advocacy and Service to Stephanie Fox, PMP, CSSGB, EMC and the National Woman of Achievement: Making a Difference Award to Kathryn Martin.
