WHEREAS, Joe Weider's Olympia Fitness and Performance Weekend is an international bodybuilding competition that is held annually by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness; and,
WHEREAS, this year, at the competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, a Pittsburgh native, Raymont Edmonds, was crowned the Men's Physique Mr. Olympia title; and,
WHEREAS, raised in Hazelwood, and graduating from Taylor Allderdice High School, Raymont Edmonds has been a Men's Physique Bodybuilder since 2015. He debuted at the prestigious Arnold Classic, placing 6th amongst the greatest in the world. In the following three years, Raymont climbed the ranks to the top of the bodybuilding world by competing in the Mr. Olympia contest; and,
WHEREAS, having been an IFBB Professional athlete since 2015, Raymont made his Olympia debut in 2017 where he placed 4th, and then making a dramatic improvement, he placed 2nd in the world in the Men's Physique Division in 2018. On September 14, 2019, Raymont Edmonds was crowned the 2019 Men's Physique Mr. Olympia and became the first person ever from Pittsburgh to be bestowed with this honor; and,
WHEREAS, using the platform that this honor has given him, Raymont has been featured on the cover of the September's Muscle and Fitness Magazine USA and November Muscle and Fitness Asia as well as promoting a clothing line. His role as a coach and a father has positioned him as a solid and important role model in the community and with the guidance of Omar Ventura, one of Men's Physique pioneers as his mentor, Raymont has been able to pass down his knowledge and experience to individuals at all levels and walks of life; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Raymont Edmonds for his dedication and determination and congratulates him for being crowned the 2019 Men's Physique Mr. Olympia, the first ever from Pittsburgh; and,
