Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as Follows:

Section 1. Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Safety, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, to enter into a grant agreement with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in the amount of ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-TWO THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED THREE DOLLARS ($182,803).
This grant will enable the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police - Commercial Vehicle Unit to participate with other law enforcement agencies to increase the number of roadside inspections, distracted driver and seatbelt compliance checks, and passenger transportation safety checks in the City of Pittsburgh. The goal of the grant is to reduce the number of crashes involving trucks and buses, reduce the amount crashes caused by distracted drivers, and to increase compliance with the seat belt law. The Federal Motor Carrier Administration will provide a maximum of $182,803 over a two-year period for the costs associated with enforcement efforts. The City of Pittsburgh's local match of $27,420 will be met through the on-duty salaries for two police officers assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Unit.

The grant agreement shall be approved as to form and substance by the City Solicitor and monies shall be deposited in the JDE Job Number 2329400299.45505.00.

Section 2. The Mayor, Director of the Department of Public Safety and the Chief of Police, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby further authorized to enter into agreement or agreements, contract or contracts, and to make all required quarterly reports required under the terms and conditions of this grant agreement with the...
