WHEREAS, Animal Advocates is a non-profit, all-volunteer animal welfare organization involved in the rescue, care and placement of companion animals, many of which are either special needs or from previous owners who were forced to relinquish their pets under difficult circumstances; and,
WHEREAS, they are dedicated to ending the suffering, exploitation, and abuse of all animals and are involved in community outreach efforts on behalf of the animals, vegetarian outreach efforts, and local animal rights issues; and,
WHEREAS, since its inception in 1984, Animal Advocates has followed a no-kill policy and provides high quality care by loving volunteer foster homes until they are placed into their forever homes; and,
WHEREAS, since they take the time to get to know the animals’ personalities and needs, they are able to make the best match possible for both animals and adopters; and,
WHEREAS, Animal Advocates will be at the Pittsburgh PetExpo, the largest consumer pet trade show on the east coast, held at the David Lawrence Convention Center from November 15-17, 2019; and,
WHEREAS, one way to support Animal Advocates is to visit their Thrift Shoppe located at 35 Wabash Street where 100% of all sales benefit the rescue and care of animals in need; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Animal Advocates and their dedicated team of volunteers for saving the lives of animals in need; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Monday, November 4, 2019 to be “Animal Advocates Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
