Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate the Allen Place Senior Citizen PROM which will provide the participants with a wonderful night out consisting of dinner, raffles, a live band, and dancing; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, September 29, 2019 to be "the Allen Place Senior Citizen PROM Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Allen Place Community Services, Inc. mission is evidence of providing health promotion and disease prevention programs to Northside residents serving the social, emotional, and educational needs of children and senior citizens by encouraging healthy development of family relationships and enhancing cultural awareness in the broader community; and,

WHEREAS, Allen Place is an organization that provides health and wellness programs for seniors, children, and youth. Success is demonstrated in their motto "Discover Your Path To Better Health" which summarizes their approach to combating physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and social isolation. They serve families for the social, emotional, and educational needs by encouraging healthy development and enhancing the cultural awareness in the broader community; and,

WHEREAS, Allen Place Center offers healthy aging discussions, low impact exercise classes, support groups for caregivers, art and music programs, beginner computer classes, first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) classes, health screenings, stroke support group, gardening, and also board games; and,

WHEREAS, Allen Place Senior Citizen Partnership Reaching the Organizing Mission Celebration will be celebrating its 10th year anniversary on September 29, 2019. Allen Place Senior Citizen PROM connects participants and program coaches in celebrating their achievement goals of better health. This program captures senior citizens that are aging out of the Allen Place communities with a significant level of institutional care rather than remaining in the home with care resources; and,

WHEREAS, Lives are being changed by virtue of hard work and dedication of Allen Place Senior Citizen PROM Honorees exemplary professional community volunteers for sharing their services and promoting health initiatives.
