Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate the important contribution of Ms. Audrey Lyda to the Pittsburgh community; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 to be "Audrey Lyda Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Audrey Lyda is a resident of Shadyside and a student at the Ellis School; and,

 

WHEREAS, she has been an avid lover of rowing since the seventh grade, when she began rowing for Ellis and Steel City; and,

 

WHEREAS, she continued to nurture her passion for the sport by joining Three Rivers Junior Rowing; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Lyda has won both national and international awards; and,

 

WHEREAS, she is a 2018 Royal Canadian Henley Gold Medalist, and also won gold, silver, and bronze medals in several other championships; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Lyda represented the United States in a 2019 World Rowing Junior Championship held in Tokyo, Japan; and,

 

WHEREAS, she is the first athlete from Three Rivers Rowing to be selected to a World Championship roster; and,

 

WHEREAS, she plans to continue her love of rowing and representing Three Rivers Rowing and the City of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Lyda’s example of hard work, dedication, and determination is an inspiration to all; and,
