WHEREAS, Audrey Lyda is a resident of Shadyside and a student at the Ellis School; and,
WHEREAS, she has been an avid lover of rowing since the seventh grade, when she began rowing for Ellis and Steel City; and,
WHEREAS, she continued to nurture her passion for the sport by joining Three Rivers Junior Rowing; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Lyda has won both national and international awards; and,
WHEREAS, she is a 2018 Royal Canadian Henley Gold Medalist, and also won gold, silver, and bronze medals in several other championships; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Lyda represented the United States in a 2019 World Rowing Junior Championship held in Tokyo, Japan; and,
WHEREAS, she is the first athlete from Three Rivers Rowing to be selected to a World Championship roster; and,
WHEREAS, she plans to continue her love of rowing and representing Three Rivers Rowing and the City of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Lyda’s example of hard work, dedication, and determination is an inspiration to all; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate the important contribution of Ms. Audrey Lyda to the Pittsburgh community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 to be “Audrey Lyda Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
