Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Commander Vinansky for his commitment and dedication to Zone 6 of District 2 for the past three years; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Thursday, July 18, 2019 to be "Commander Stephen Vinansky Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Stephen Vinansky began with the Pittsburgh Police Bureau in 2001, and was promoted to Commander in 2016, where he spent his first several months at Police Headquarters in Research and Planning until he was assigned to Zone 6 for the past 3 years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Commander Vinansky is a dedicated, selfless Public Safety official who believes in collaboration between his officers and the community. This is evident by the way he encourages officers to reach out to community members in need and attend community events, all of which he also participates, supported by his family, who often accompanies him at community events; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Commander recognizes his officers when difficult situations are resolved and praises his officers for their hard work and dedication. He is always willing to back up officers on calls, never thinking of himself; and,

 

WHEREAS, in addition, Commander Vinansky is also co-chair of the South Pittsburgh Opioid Action Committee and has helped to develop the Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) Referral Program which was piloted in Zone 6; and

 

WHEREAS, Commander Vinansky is a loving family man with a heart of gold and he will be missed in Zone 6, but we know that he will be an asset to Zone 5 where he is needed; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Commander Vinansky for his commitment and dedication to Zone 6 of District 2 for the past three years; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Thursday, July 18, 2019 to be “Commander Stephen Vinansky Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
