Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Dr. Rippy for being installed as the new pastor of Good Hope Baptist; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, May 26, 2019, to be "Melvin G. Rippy Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Melvin G. Rippy received his call into ministry in January 1990. Dr. Rippy preached his initial sermon on November 15th, 1998, and was ordained under his pastor the Reverend Dr. Winston C. Rildley Jr.; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Rippy has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Ministry from Geneva College, May of 1999. He has earned a Master of Divinity degree from Sam DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University School of Divinity, May of 2010; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Rippy has been a servant-leader for four churches in the duration of his twenty-plus years in the ministry. He has served at First Missionary Baptist Church, Leetsdale, PA, 1999-2004 and Deliverance Baptist Christian Center, Pittsburgh, PA, 2004-2009, Macedonia Baptist Church, Wheeling, WV 2011-2018. He is currently the pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church, 2018-present; and,

 

WHEREAS, Currently, Dr. Rippy is an adjunct professor for Geneva College at the Center of Urban Biblical Ministry, where he has taught Professional Development, Homiletics, History of the Christian Church, and Wisdom Literature; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Dr. Rippy for being installed as the new pastor of Good Hope Baptist; and,
