Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Pittsburgh Taco Festival on its third year of celebration; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, June 1, 2019, "Pittsburgh Taco Festival Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, June 1, the Pittsburgh Taco Festival, also known as PGH Taco Fest, will hold its 3rd annual community festival that celebrates tacos, supports local businesses, and raises awareness of Latin American culture; and,

 

WHEREAS, PGH Taco Fest was created and produced by small business owner Craig McCloud of PopsBurgh, LLC, in support of sustainability efforts in the City of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Taco Festival and its event partners, Easy Street Promotions LLC and Highmark Stadium, produce a family-friendly festival at which children can partake in two piñata events held during the afternoon at Highmark Stadium; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Taco Festival collaborates with the Latin American Cultural Union, which is dedicated to preserving and promoting Latin American and Caribbean cultures and traditions in our region and building cultural partnerships, and the Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation, which works to increase our Hispanic population, builds and promotes Hispanic businesses, and promotes investment in the City of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, visitors will enjoy an afternoon of live music and dance performances as well as a cultural marketplace while exploring the flavors of myriad tacos from over 25 local taco vendors during the afternoon session from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. or the evening session from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Pittsburgh Taco Festival on its third year of celebration; and,
