Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does commend and congratulate Comcast on its 18th annual Comcast Cares Day, and commends Comcast for its concentrated efforts to help with the improvement of our communities; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, May 4th, 2019 to be "Comcast Cares Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Comcast has been an active, committed, and engaged member of the City of Pittsburgh as demonstrated by years of Comcast Cares Day service in neighborhoods throughout the city; and,

 

WHEREAS, Comcast supports the core American value of volunteerism through partnerships, grants, and volunteer activities that empower individuals and communities; and,  

 

WHEREAS, Comcast Cares Day is a celebration of service and has grown to be the largest single-day corporate volunteer event in the nation, bringing employees, families, friends, and community partners together for a common purpose; and,

 

WHEREAS, on Saturday, May 4th, 2019, Comcast gathered over 300 volunteers to continue its project with the Northview Heights family community. Comcast partnered with volunteer efforts from the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Police, the Buhl Foundation, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, the Urban League’s Northview Heights Family Support Center, and the Bethany House Academy; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Comcast Cares Day projects included building new and restoring existing elements to two community gardens, installation of a rain garden, extensive indoor and outdoor clean-up at the Urban League’s Northview Heights Family Center, decorating and assembling 100 flower pots and distributing them door-to-door to the residents, and refurbishment of the baseball and soccer fields; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does commend and congratulate Comcast on its 18th annual Comcast Cares Day, and commends Comcast for its concentrated efforts to help with the improvement of our communities; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, May 4th, 2019 to be “Comcast Cares Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
