• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the athletes and coaches of 1968/69's South Hills High School football team and cheerleading squad; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019, to be "1968/69 South Hills High School City League Football Champions Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on April 26, 2019 the South Hills High School Alumni Association will recognize and honor former members of the 1968/69 Pittsburgh Public Schools City League Football Championship Team, the 1968/69 Cheerleading Squad, and Coaches at the Third Annual All Sports Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony; and,

WHEREAS, the honorees have demonstrated the true meaning of sportsmanship and character by excelling on and off the field during their scholastic and post scholastic careers; and,

WHEREAS, the honorees have achieved championship status and performed at the highest degree; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh is in appreciation of these men and women for their dedication and contribution to South Hills High School and the Pittsburgh Public Schools; and,

WHEREAS, the following men were involved with the football teams: Coaches J. Reed Wehrle Ray Hooper '58, Bruce Weston, and Bill Schmidt '52; and players Ralph Banks '70, Robert Barrett '70, Michael Bogden '70, Gary Borneman '69, George Bradford '70, Joseph Brown '70, Ronald L.
