Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does recognize, celebrate and thank Hugh Brannan III for his tireless work as the Chair of South Side Planning Forum; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 12th, 2019 to be "HUGH BRANNAN DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The South Side Parking Task force was originally created to discuss the tight parking within the South Side, but later focused and planning and thus evolved into the South Side Planning Task force and later the South Side Planning Forum; and,

WHEREAS, Hugh Brannan has served as the Chair of South Side Planning Forum since its inception in 1985, first serving as a Co-Chair with Mr. Eugene Ricciardi and shortly taking over as Chair; and,

WHEREAS, The South Side Planning Forum brings together representatives from the organizations of the South Side to address community development issues and concerns and is responsible for the development, implementation and revision of the South Side Neighborhood plan; and,

WHEREAS, under Hugh Brannan's leadership the South Side Planning Forum expanded its scope and created The South Side Neighborhood Plan that was originally submitted in 1990 to Mayor Sophie Masslof, only after receiving unanimous consent from all its member organizations, and has been revised 10 subsequent times; and,

WHEREAS, Hugh Brannan and the South Side Planning Forum also lead the East Carson district to gaining historic designation; and,

WHEREAS, Hugh Brannan also lead South Side Planning Forum and its subcommittee, the LTV Steering Committee, to help shepherd the development of the LTV Site, now known as South Side Works; and,

WHEREAS, Hugh Brannan and South Side Planning Forum helped guide the renovation of UPMC Southside as it transitioned from an impatient facility to an outpatient hospital yet still remained a community health center for the neighborhood; and,

WHEREAS, Hugh Brannan has always seen his role in South Side Planning Forum as a facilitator between the business and residential communities of the South Side and has remained focused on reaching consensus, not always unanimity; and,
