Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Brandon Skalniak; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, January 8, 2019, to be "Brandon Skalniak Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Brandon Skalniak is a resident of Carrick, a sophomore at Seton LaSalle High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 296; and,

 

WHEREAS, Brandon has completed all of the required merit badges and community service projects reaching the rank of Eagle Scout; and,

 

WHEREAS, Brandon planned, directed and completed his community service project at Holy Apostles Parish in Carrick by rehabilitating a community prayer garden; and,

 

WHEREAS, Brandon’s efforts resulted in the removal of dilapidated statues, replacement of stone trim, placement of two new benches, the laying of new mulch, and planting of new shrubs; and,

 

WHEREAS, Brandon’s efforts also included fundraising, administration of funds, and identifying, organizing, and supervising volunteers; and,

 

WHEREAS, Brandon completed all of these requirements at age 15, becoming one of the youngest scouts in Troop 296 to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout while also maintaining membership in the Order of the Arrow; and,

 

WHEREAS, Brandon is an active scholar participating in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science and qualifying for the state finals in 2018, he is also a two time Carson Scholar, member of Junior Achievement, Campus Ministry and the Seton LaSalle Marching Band; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Brandon Skalniak; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, January 8, 2019, to be “Brandon Skalniak Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
