WHEREAS, Black Women for Positive Change, in collaboration with elected officials, faith leaders, educators, and community organizations is calling for a 6th Annual Week of Non-Violence; and,
WHEREAS, Black Women for Positive Change has the goal of promoting concepts of violence prevention, anger management, conflict resolution, non-violence, and opportunities for youth and violence-prone adults in cities, states, and nations around the world; and,
WHEREAS, Black Women for Positive Change urge local leaders to organize workshops and appropriate events in partnership with Black Women for Positive Change to highlight the purpose and importance of curbing violence in schools and communities; and,
WHEREAS, Black Women for Positive Change aim to help youth avoid violence through relationships with mentors and access to opportunities and entrepreneurship; and,
WHEREAS, Black Women for Positive Change has the goal of encouraging youth to stay in school, so that one day they have access to the necessary tools to help them benefit their own communities; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Black Women for Positive Change; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 14 through 20, 2018, to be “2018 Week of Non-Violence, Justice, Positive Change and Opportunities” in the City of Pittsburgh.
