WHEREAS, founded in 1883 in Pittsburgh, the city that remains its global headquarters community, PPG has from its inception shown dedication to innovation and quality. PPG has led technological change and become a global leader through the strength of their products, manufacturing capabilities, sustainability, innovation, community engagement, and a dedicated, world-class workforce; and,
WHEREAS, PPG’s operations go beyond product innovation to extend to communities. PPG and the PPG Foundation collaborate and engage with employees, community partners and other stakeholders to make their vision of bringing color and brightness to communities a reality. Since its inception in 1951, the PPG Foundation has provided tens of millions of dollars to communities globally; and,
WHEREAS, the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ program, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where the company operates around the world; and,
WHEREAS, PPG has also shown its dedication to the City of Pittsburgh through partnerships with the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium and the Carnegie Science Center; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend PPG for being a leader in manufacturing, employment, and community engagement and congratulates PPG for 135 years of innovation, success, and service; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares October 9, 2018, to be “PPG 135TH ANNIVERSARY DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
