Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize, commend and congratulate Dr. David G. Hall for receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from Nabhi Christian Ministries for his extraordinary body of work as an exemplary professional and a dedicated role model in the service of his community.

WHEREAS, volunteers who have stepped out of their familiar environments to meet needs not otherwise met through their service are a fundamental part of the community. Nabhi Christian Ministries, whose mission is to enhance impoverished communities by creating healthy environments that mentor, train and develop citizens of all ages recognizes the work and sacrifices of Dr. David G. Hall, MD with their Lifetime Achievement Award; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. David Hall, a resident of Pittsburgh with roots in Greenfield, South Oakland and Mt. Lebanon, grew up steeped in the tradition of courage with a ruthless work ethic. The third of six children, he was educated at MIT and the University of Rochester, School of Medicine. In both Rochester, NY and Boston, MA, Dr. Hall spent time volunteering to better the lives of people. In Boston, he helped feed, read and be a companion to patients, and in Rochester, NY, he helped renovate a storefront to create a missionary outreach called "His Branches" to offer healing prayer along with traditional expert medical care and protocol. Returning to Pittsburgh in 1979, he joined the UPMC Shadyside Family Practice but soon after, he partnered with church leaders and a community activists to create a faith based medical urban holistic outreach in Pittsburgh called East Liberty Family Health Care Center in the basement of the East Liberty Presbyterian Church. Today that initiative that started with 5 staff is now in 3 locations with over 100 staff and board. The network that Dr. Hall envisioned now provides ongoing home care services and comprehensive care and outreach to the homeless and shelter communities; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Davis is married to Suzanne Sleyman, and they have 6 children and 4 grandchildren. Dr. Hall has been a part of a Presidential Team to assess health services during the Lebanon-Israeli War, part of a missionary team to deliver primary care to remote mountain villages in Guatemala and is currently part of a consultin...
