Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works to enter into an Agreement between the City of Pittsburgh and Will Schlough, for the creation and installation of public art at Paulson Park located at 1300 Paulson Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, at a cost not to exceed Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00).

WHEREAS, the new Paulson Spray Park will be located on the site currently occupied by Paulson Park Swimming Pool between Brainard Street and Olivant Street.
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works includes a Public Art + Civic Design division that seeks to introduce new and innovative public art programs around the City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh's Public Art Plan provides a vision for how public art will be created, maintained, and displayed in the City of Pittsburgh for the next decade and calls for the integration of art into the "built environment" as an element of urban and building design as a means of reinforcing public gathering places, infrastructure, neighborhoods, and communities; and
WHEREAS, on June 27, 2018, the Office of Management and Budget released a Request for Proposals to solicit artists and artist collectives to create public art for the City of Pittsburgh's Paulson Park; and
WHEREAS, a selection committee chose a proposal by Will Schlough for the public art installation; and
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of Public Works, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized enter into an Agreement between the City of Pittsburgh and Will Schlough, for the creation and installation of public art at Paulson Park located at 1300 Paulson Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, at a cost not to exceed Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00), for artist's fees, materials, and installation payable from the following account:
