WHEREAS, Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter School in Downtown Pittsburgh will be conducting a “Ringing In Reading” Bell Ceremony to celebrate literacy on Wednesday, September 12th, at 10:00 am at the school located at 925 Penn Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, Urban Pathways K-5 is a free public charter school located in Downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, who believes in educating the whole child; encompassing nutrition, fitness or wellness, social emotional, career and college readiness; and,
WHEREAS, Urban Pathways K-5 is a Leader in Me school that incorporates Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and other leadership skills into their core curriculum in unique and creative ways; and,
WHEREAS, Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter School uses Core Knowledge Curriculum, an educational reform movement based on the premise that a grade-by-grade core of common learning is necessary to ensure a rich and fair elementary education; and,
WHEREAS, Urban Pathways K-5 diligently focuses on themes of Collaboration, Review & Refine Instruction, School Climate during the 2018-19 school year; recognizing that community engagement is paramount to a school’s success; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Pittsburgh City Council does hereby declare September 12, 2018 to be “Urban Pathways K-5 Ringing in Reading Day” in the Commonwealth State of Pennsylvania.
