Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 11, 2018 to be "Robert W. Farrow Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Robert W. Farrow, Chief of the City of Pittsburgh’s Emergency Medical Services, will be ending his service to the City of Pittsburgh after 43 years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Chief Farrow joined the City of Pittsburgh’s Emergency Medical Services as a paramedic upon its inception in June of 1975; and,

 

WHEREAS, during his time with the City, Chief Farrow has served as a Paramedic, Crew Chief, Field Supervisor, Rescue Division Supervisor, Division Chief, and Acting Deputy Chief before being promoted to Chief in 2016; and,

 

WHEREAS, Chief Farrow has served as the City of Pittsburgh’s Hazardous Materials Team Chief and as a team leader for the PA USAR Strike Team; and,

 

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Chief Farrow has been appointed to serve on the Allegheny County Local Emergency Planning Committee, the City of Pittsburgh/Allegheny County WMD Planning Committee, the Region 13 WMD Working Group, the Metropolitan Medical Response Systems program, the Allegheny County Laboratory Stakeholders Working Group, and the Carbon Monoxide Coalition Working Group; and,

 

WHEREAS, Chief Farrow has been educated in Hazardous Material Incident Management and Executive/Management Development, has obtained and maintained medical, rescue, fire, safety, and hazardous material certifications, and continues to attend training and exercises to help him better serve the City; and,

 

WHEREAS, Chief Farrow has received numerous commendations for his work in his time with the City, including both thank you letters from the public and a proclamation from the state of Pennsylvania for his work at a trench rescue call in Forest Hills, alongside commendations for his efforts at the May Building Fire in 1998, a bus collision on the East Bus Way in 1996, and for a high angle rescue following a scaffolding collapse at Forbes and Craft; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh and Department of Public Safety would like to thank Chief Farrow for his many years of service and his commitment to the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and to the citizens of the City of Pittsburgh; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 11, 2018 to be “Robert W. Farrow Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
