Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize 20 years of remarkable leadership by Brian Schreiber at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh and commends and congratulates him for his vision, leadership and commitment to the citizens of the City of Pittsburgh; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, September 6, 2018, to be "BRIAN SCHREIBER DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Brian Schreiber, the CEO and President of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh, exemplifies the qualities expressed in the Bennis quote, "Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality"; and,

WHEREAS, born in Newark, New Jersey, raised outside of Philadelphia and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lafayette College, Brian is a Licensed Social Worker and a credited Field Instructor. He earned his Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland and a Master's Degree in Jewish Studies from Baltimore Hebrew University. As Brian celebrates 20 years as CEO of the JCC of Greater Pittsburgh, he can be proud that his vision and leadership have positioned the agency to be one of the most successful Jewish Community Centers in the country; and,

WHEREAS, the JCC is a multifaceted community benefit organization with a $22 million budget, 135 full time and 800 part time employees and membership of over 19,000 individuals. It specializes in human services that includes early childhood, youth, older adults, health and wellness, camping, special needs and cultural arts, and in his capacity as the CEO, he is responsible for operations , vision and strategic planning, fiscal well-being, capital expenditures and fund development at the JCC's five facilities throughout the region; and,

WHEREAS, deeply involved in issues related to preventing gender-based violence, Brian is an integral part of the Southwest PA Says No More movement, leading the JCC's involvement in significant prevention-focused work in ending gender violence in the community. He is a board member of Standing Firm: The Business Case to End Gender Violence, served two years as Board Chair of the Greater Pittsburgh Non Profit Regional Consortium, is a former Board Member of Allegheny Health Choices, Inc. and serves on the Executive Advisory Committee of the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work.
