Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Reverend Walker for his Military service and leadership in the church; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, August 11, 2018, to be "Reverend Richard Walker Jr. Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, Reverend Richard R. Walker, Jr. was born in Rankin, PA., to the late Richard and Helen Walker. He is a graduate of the General Braddock Area School District and is presently studying Theology at the FBI Academy at EBC. Reverend Walkers’ faithful service to God began at an early age in the youth ministry of Emmanuel.  He served in the United States Army, and after completing his tour of duty, he returned to Emmanuel and continued in service for God; and,

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Walker was ordained as a deacon, January 24, 2003.  May 28, 2006 he was selected Adult Layman Honoree for the Allegheny Union Baptist Associated (AUBA). He received his Ministers license November 21, 2014 and was ordained Minister March 4, 2016; and,

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Richard R. Walker, Jr., A man who is definitely described as a Person of Distinction who has a servant heart.  Richard has a love for God and Gods people. He is a humble man of integrity; and,

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Walker heads the Prison Ministry, Intercessory Prayer Leader, Van Driver, Choir Member, and Security; and,

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Walker is the father of two beautiful daughters, one son and four grandchildren.  His favorite scripture is; Matthew 25: 36b, 40.  “I was in prison and you came to visit me. I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Reverend Walker for his Military service and leadership in the church; and,
