WHEREAS, Allegheny County Coalition for Recovery was formed in 2001 by providers, professionals, and stakeholders with a vested interest in advocating on behalf of all on their journey to recovery; and,
WHEREAS, the Coalition’s goal is to help the public recognize that people can and do overcome substance abuse disorders and that there is hope; and,
WHEREAS, as part of their mission to promote recovery and resilience in Allegheny County, the Coalition participated in the 2017 Pittsburgh Recovery Walk-an annual event where the community comes together to celebrate the many roads to recovery; and,
WHEREAS, during the Recovery Walk the Coalition took the time to shine a spotlight on the crucial role of First Responders by sponsoring a ‘Thank you First Responders’ booth so that our community members could share personal stories of how these men and women positively impacted their lives; and,
WHEREAS, First responders, more often than not, serve as the first point of contact for many fighting addiction and we are thankful for their life-saving work; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does recognize and celebrate the work of the Allegheny County Coalition for Recovery and honors First Responders for their invaluable service to our community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare to Tuesday, July 24th, 2018 to be “Allegheny County Coalition for Recovery and First Responders Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
