Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Liam Michael Yates; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, July 1, 2018, to be "Liam Michael Yates Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Liam Yates began his scouting journey as a Tiger Cub in first grade at just six years old; and,

 

WHEREAS, Liam Yates helped lead the Pledge of Allegiance in 2014 to swear in the newly elected Mayor of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, Liam Yates has earned two Catholic Religious Scout Awards as a Cub Scout and three as a Boy Scout, and in the 75-year history of Troop 6, Liam was one of three of the first scouts to ever earn all five Catholic Religious Awards, and,

 

WHEREAS, Liam Yates played Tenor and Alto Saxophone for the District Honors and All Star Bands in 7th and 8th grade, and he has performed twice at the Hard Rock Café as well as the James Street Gastro Pub; and,

 

WHEREAS, Liam Yates just completed his Junior year at Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts High School majoring in musical theater where he performed in the musicals West Side Story, Anything Goes, Les Misérables, and The Little Mermaid Musical; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Liam Yates has earned 26 merit Badges and is registered for two more this summer, and Liam plans to continue with the Troop this summer and helping at meetings next year; and,

 

WHEREAS, Liam's Eagle Scout Project benefitted the community of Brookline, where he refinished the hardwood floors of the Brookline Teen Outreach Center; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Liam Michael Yates; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, July 1, 2018, to be “Liam Michael Yates Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
