WHEREAS, Patricia Freiss began working for the City of Pittsburgh Citiparks on February 15, 2016 at the Sheraden Senior Healthy Living Center; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Freiss plans and monitors programs such as organized sports, games, leisure activities, music and crafts for our senior residents and also acts as the liaison between the residents and the city of Pittsburgh regarding community issues and concerns; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to seniors, she runs the After School and Summer Food Program at the center where she is responsible for 25 children ranging from ages 5 to 16, all of whom respect her as a role model; and,
WHEREAS, Pat possesses the sensitivity and skills to help the children every day with their homework and creating fun activities in a nurturing and structured environment; and,
WHEREAS, Pat is responsible for record keeping and reporting information for the state funded food program, which she completes accurately and timely each month; and,
WHEREAS, she is also very involved in her neighborhood where she co-chairs the Zone 6 Public Safety Council, helps with the community garden, participates in and organizes community clean ups, helps to maintain the veterans memorial, volunteers with an annual Christmas event, and hosts an annual Halloween Parade for the Oakwood neighborhood where she resides; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Patricia Freiss for her tireless commitment to the City of Pittsburgh and our senior residents and the tremendous impact she has on our youth; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 29, 2018, to be “Patricia Freiss Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
