Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and recognize the life of Ron E. Deutsch for his many years of faithful service to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, May 14th 2018 to be "Ronald E. Deutsch Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, having been a long time resident of the City of Pittsburgh, Ronald E. Deutsch was a dedicated advocate for his community; and

 

WHEREAS, Ron Deutsch had a long and influential career working for many industries and on behlaf of many causes, including U.S. Steel, the Allegheny County Kane Regional Center- Glen Hazel, the State of Pennsylvania under former Senator Bodack, and the City of Pittsburgh Senior Division; and

 

WHEREAS, he was passionate about both individual and community safety and well-being, Ron was a tireless Senior Justice Advocate for the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office; and

 

WHEREAS, Ron was a founding member of the Friend of Forbes Hospice, former constable for the 9th Ward, founder of the 9th Ward Block Watch in Lawrenceville, and long standing 9th Ward Democratic Committee Chairman amongst other roles; and

 

WHEREAS, Ron's loss will be felt deeply by many, including his wife, Irene, his children and grandchildren, as well as the greater Lawrenceville neighborhood;
