Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Charles "Chuck" Senft; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, May 5, 2018, to be "Chuck Senft Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Chuck Senft was the Citiparks Brookline Community Recreation Director for forty-six years from 1958 to 2003, working tirelessly to engage children and adults in a variety of recreational and social activities, and,

 

WHEREAS, Chuck Senft displayed a constant devotion to the community of Brookline that went beyond his work responsibilities and was a mentor and father figure to generations of Brookline children, and, 

 

WHEREAS, Chuck Senft coached Brookline Boxing Club teams to over fifty team titles as well as coaching hundreds of individual champions in the Sub-Novice, Novice, and Open Divisions, and he is a member of the Pennsylvania State Golden Gloves Hall of Fame, and,

 

WHEREAS, Chuck Senft was named the “Brookline Man of the Year” in 1981 by the Brookline Chamber of Commerce, and, 

 

WHEREAS, Chuck Senft oversaw the popular Brookline Men’s Basketball League for twenty-one years from 1982 to 2002, and,

 

WHEREAS, Chuck Senft introduced many multi-cultural programs to the Brookline community, including ethnic music and dance troupes, and he pioneered the development of opportunities for women in sports, and,

 

WHEREASChuck Senft led Brookline teams to championships in a variety of other sports, including track and field, table tennis, street hockey, volleyball, swimming, softball, tackle and flag football, marble shooting, gymnastics, and kite flying, and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Charles “Chuck” Senft; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, May 5, 2018, to be “Chuck Senft Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
