Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 10th, 2018 to be "PACE Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise (PACE) is a partner agency of the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania that was formed during the civil rights movement in 1968; and,

 

WHEREAS, PACE is a nonprofit funder and management support organization that is marking its fiftieth anniversary of supporting and strengthening local organizations rooted in environments where their services are most critical; and,

 

WHEREAS, PACE’s mission is to advance a more equitable community by increasing the capacity of African American and other individuals, groups, and organizations that uphold social justice; and,

 

WHEREAS, PACE’s vision is a future where stakeholders build and enjoy a just community of their own design; and,

 

WHEREAS, the programs of PACE focus on funding and capacity building, community resource development, education, knowledge development and advocacy, and direct consulting services; and,

 

WHEREAS, PACE remains a vital and relevant community resource in an environment that has improved in many ways, yet is still profoundly challenging for African American and disadvantaged communities; and,

 

WHEREAS, many of the best ideas start as conversations, PACE encourages people to make positive change by creating an environment for the easy exchange of ideas and commitment to action; and,

 

WHEREAS, PACE will once again “set the table” for people with different life experiences and perspectives to converse, listen, and learn at the 10th annual Inclusive Voices Luncheon on April 13th, 2018 at the Fairmont Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh;
