WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Allderdice High School, the largest of the Pittsburgh Public Schools' urban high schools, has drawn students from nine diverse communities and offers academic programs at all levels, complemented by a full range of interscholastic, intramural and co-curricular clubs and sports ;and,
WHEREAS, Allderdice High School has had a proud athletic history and this year, the Boys Basketball Team won its fifth straight City Championship. The last time that occurred was in the early 1950's by Westinghouse High School. Playing with excellent fundamentals, team chemistry and skill that included outstanding 3 point shooting, they compiled a City record of 12-0 and 26-3 overall. The team had victories over WPIAL powerhouses Mars, Mt. Lebo, Penn Hills, Central Catholic, Upper St. Clair, Bethel Park, Hampton, Plum, Erie McDowell, Altoona, Highlands and Seneca Valley ;and,
WHEREAS, Coached and mentored by Coaches Buddy Valinsky, Andy Pakler and Jeff Cohen, the team had chemistry on and off the court and were true gentleman in victory and defeat, following the motto to win with class and lose with dignity. The Team consisted of Manager A. J. Jefferson, Scorekeeper Jonah Mayer and Seniors Shaun Morris, Azi Humber, Tyler Williams, and Tavonne Davis, Juniors, Jackson Blaufeld, Bobby Clifford and Terrell Childs, Sophomores, Tony Henderson, Josphat Mukogosi, Blake Haber, Dontae Klein, Rob Jones, Sean Graves and Kamren Edmonds ;and,
WHEREAS, the camaraderie, spirit, and achievements of this team rallied a special following from the community that included parents, students, teachers, and alumni from around the country that no other team possessed.
