WHEREAS, since 1983, April has been declared Child Abuse Prevention Month by presidential proclamation and has been a time to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse; and,

WHEREAS, Jeremiah's Place is a safe haven of respite which strengthens families in a non-judgmental, trauma informed environment free of charge, and they strive to be a leading voice for child abuse prevention, connecting families with local community resources to help stabilize and sustain them; and,

WHEREAS, Jeremiah's Place was founded in 2011 by Dr. Lynne Williams, Dr. Tammy Murdock and Educational Consultant Eileen Sharbaugh, and opened its doors as an overnight facility in 2014 as a way to provide care for children who would otherwise be left in high-risk situations when caregivers were unable to secure childcare; and,

WHEREAS, supplies such as diapers, food, toothbrush, toothpaste, toys, books and clothing are always on hand, in case items have been forgotten in the rush out of a home and they also contend with challenges that extend far beyond emergency child care such as unemployment, intimate partner violence and mental health; and,

WHEREAS, Jeremiah's Place prides itself in the coalescence of a passionate team of people and leadership that now celebrates its 4th year of standing in the gap for children and families in crisis; and,

WHEREAS, since Jeremiah's Place opened its doors in 2014, they have served 419 unique families and loved 653 unique children, which resulted in 2,366 visits and provided over 30,802 hours of emergency childcare and have reached families from 58 unique zip codes; and,
