WHEREAS, the Polish Falcons Heritage Foundation was founded in 2014 as a nonprofit organization, and has served the national, as well as the local Pittsburgh Polish community through its charitable, educational and cultural initiatives; and,
WHEREAS, headquartered in Green Tree, the Falcons have a ‘nest’ in the South Side where they serve as a resource for the Polish American community; encouraging traditions, history, customs and culture of Poland and Poles through a multitude of initiatives and events; and,
WHEREAS, currently led by a Board of Directors comprised of Timothy Kuzma, Patricia Del Busse, John Kuzmirek, Barbara Rudiak, Patricia Capozoli, Rebecca Sienkiewicz and Mark McPherson; and,
WHEREAS, the focus of the Foundation is the development of the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of young people; and,
WHEREAS, with a wealth of workshops, cultural activities, and educational scholarships the Polish Falcons Heritage Foundation seeks to encourage leadership; and,
WHEREAS, by encouraging a new generation of leaders who hold the core values that are important to their Polish heritage, including ethnic tolerance and inclusivity, the Foundation hopes to make a positive impact on the community it serves; and,
WHEREAS, the Polish Falcons Heritage Foundation hosts an annual mass, Wigilia, Breakfast with St. Nicholas, golf outings, and the upcoming Dyngus Day Celebration to be held on the South Side on Easter Monday, April 2nd, 2018; and,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, April 2nd, 2018 to be “Dyngus Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
