Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Pittsburgh Knights for their vision and commitment in building the ESports community in Pittsburgh and for their dedication to connecting the remarkable economic benefits of ESports globally to the economic future of Pittsburgh; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 13 2018, to be "PITTSBURGH KNIGHTS ESPORTS DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, ESports, as a subculture of the video game industry, is comprehensive gaming with organized tournaments where you can be a player and where winners win prizes. Globally, ESports has an enormous following with an estimated 191 million fans around the world and revenues expecting to reach $660 million and growing; and,

WHEREAS, since the gaming industry demonstrates revenue growth through positive statistics and viewership, ESports Pittsburgh is poised to create an impact for the City of Pittsburgh through tourism, economic impact and awareness in the technology workforce and is creating a strong relationship with the City ;and,

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Knights are an ESports franchise, who has invested in remodeling a Hazelwood location with full live digital media production equipment, green screens, stationery cameras, VR setup, 10 PCs, Projector Screen and 2000 square feet of community space. With a goal of bringing visitors to Pittsburgh , creating economic impact , collegiate collaborations and community building, the Pittsburgh Knights believe that establishing and growing the popularity of the Knights will show developers, tournament promoters and others in the ESports scene that Pittsburgh is a viable ESports city ;and,

WHEREAS, ESports fans are generally younger than traditional sports fans and can support the industry's initiatives for expansion and growth. There are plans to bring conventions and tournaments to the city and one day, even building an ESports Stadium or field an event large enough to sell out one of Pittsburgh's venues; and,
