Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare February 15-March 15 of 2018, to be "Women of Color HERStory Month" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Women of Color HERStory Month(r) is a multi-city celebration of the power, legacy, and achievements of women of color that has been held annually since 2008 from February 15 to March 15 between Black History and Women's History Months; and,

WHEREAS, New Voices for Reproductive Justice, which includes New Voices Pittsburgh, New Voices Cleveland and New Voices Philadelphia, hosts and organizes
Women of Color HERStory Month(r) each year; and,

WHEREAS, Women of Color HERStory Month(r) marks its 11th Anniversary through celebrations in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Philadelphia with the theme of "Breaking
Chainz"; and,

WHEREAS, V-Day Pittsburgh 2018 produced the Vagina Monologues on February 18, the Homer S. Brown Division of the Allegheny County Bar Association honored New
Voices with the Spirit Award on February 28th, the International Women of Color Twitter Chat took place on March 1st and an exclusive pre-release film screening of A Wrinkle in Time directed by Ava DuVernay will take place on March 8th; and,

WHEREAS, we celebrate the significant social, political and cultural contributions of women and femmes of color in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, across the country, and around the world; and,

WHEREAS, New Voices is building a social change movement dedicated to the health and well-being of Black women and girls through leadership development, Human
Rights and Reproductive Justice; and,

WHEREAS, New Voices is the only Human Rights and Reproductive Justice Organization for women of color, led by women of color, and about women of color in
Pittsburgh and is deeply committed to improving the health, well-being and quality of life for Black women, femmes and girls, women of color and LGBTQ+ people of color; and,

WHEREAS, New Voices for Reproductive Justice will celebrate fourteen years of organizing and serving over 100,000 women of color in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and Women of Color HERStory Month(r) celebrates the lives and stories of women of c...
