WHEREAS, Expedient is a cloud and data infrastructure which is a service provider and is ranked as one of the Top 10 managed services providers worldwide. Expedient enables clients to focus on strategic business innovation while the Expedient team handles operation of the information technology; and,
WHEREAS, Expedient, founded as USVoice Data in Cleveland in 2001, has grown exponentially by acquiring companies such as Stargate and Continental Broadband and has expanded to cities such as Indianapolis, Cleveland, Baltimore, Boston, Columbus, Memphis and Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, a data center expansion coming this year to Expedient’s Pittsburgh location represents a $14 Million capital investment in Nova Place on Pittsburgh’s North Side and will feature 10,000 square feet of new raised floor space accessible from a single customer entrance, Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems, fully redundant switchgear, emergency generators, commercial utility power service, next generation Computer Room Air Conditioning units, network access and multi-gigabit interconnection among all 11 Expedient data centers as well as a larger operations Support Center and additional capacity for cloud computing resources; and,
WHEREAS, Expedient will have an Open House on Thursday, January 25th, 2018, which will welcome people for tours and refreshments and share the new opportunities that expansion represents for the City of Pittsburgh; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Expedient for its investment in their new data center and commends and congratulates Expedient for its commitment to the economic health and success of Pittsburgh; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, January 25, 2018, to be “EXPEDIENT DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
