WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a not-for-profit association that brings together parents, educators, students, and other citizens active in their schools and communities, and leverages their dedication and passion into advocacy for children and education; and
WHEREAS, with a mission to ensure that quality education is provided, the Pennsylvania PTA strives to promote the collaborative efforts of educators and families who tirelessly work for the health and welfare of children and youth; and
WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania PTA is the prime means by which its members communicate with local, state, and national policymakers, giving members the opportunity to bring resources from all levels of government to their communities; and
WHEREAS, for more than 25 years, Bonita Allen has been a steadfast and fervent advocate for education. A graduate of Harvard University and the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, Bonita has extensive experience working with teachers, school administrators, students, and families to ensure the greatest possible outcomes in education; and
WHEREAS, Bonita has served on the Pennsylvania Governor's Institute for Parental Involvement Policy and Planning Committee, the Arts Education Collaborative's Advocacy and Standards Committee, and the Pennsylvania Secretary of Education's Education Collaborative initiative; and
WHEREAS, she also chaired the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Title I State Parent Advisory Council, and is a member of the Department's Division of Federal Programs Committee of Practitioners, the Office of Child Development Early Learning K-2 Partnership Standards Revision Committee, and the Family Engagement Conference Planning Committee; and
